Mark Hackett
Racing Secretary
Mark is responsible for making the entries and declarations for all of our horses on a day-to-day basis…
His role also entails a wide variety of logistics relating to the running, working and racing of our horses from organising the international travel of our horses to making sure your horse is named in time for the races.
Faisal Hayat
Head Man
Faisal has worked on Owning Hill for many years…
Starting out there with Aidan O’Brien before moving to Ballydoyle for a number of years. When O’Brien horses started returning to the Hill, Faisal was the first name the the team sheet to go with them. He plays an integral role in every aspect of the day-to-day running of Carriganog Racing.
Mark Power
Assistant Trainer
Mark began working at the Hill when Joseph had less than 20 horses riding out…
As the numbers grew, Mark progressed into the prominent role that he has been in for the last number of years now. As well as being very hands on in the day-to-day running of the yard and working closely with Joseph on all aspects of the training of our horses, Mark has led up our travelling team on a number of memorable international raids, including when Rekindling and Twilight Payment won the Melbourne Cup.
Brendan Powell
Assistant Trainer
Brendan has had a long and very successful career in the industry…
Initially a top-class National Hunt jockey that won the Grand National on Rhyme N Reason in 1988, he went on to be a successful dual-purpose trainer that was responsible for over 600 winners. Brendan joined Carriganog Racing after he retired from training in 2019. He is a big help around the yard and represents us at race meetings all over the world. Brendan ensures our owners have the best possible experience on raceday and is there to point you in the right direction whether it’s where to get a drink or where to find the winners enclosure.
Kevin Blake
Race Planning
Kevin has played a key role in Carriganóg Racing since joining the team in 2017…
He assists in a wide variety of roles from providing pre-race analysis for every runner and pedigree analysis at the yearling sales to buying horses in training for us both privately and at the sales. Kevin also analyses our performance throughout the season, pinpointing areas of strength that can be leaned into, but also and more importantly, areas that can be improved with adjustments.
Tara Armstrong
Communications
Tara ensures all our owners are kept up to date…
She compiles bi-weekly training updates including pictures/videos of the horses working, as well as pre and post-race reports including future plans. We provide our training updates via The Racing Manager. Once your horses arrive, you will receive a login which will will allow you access to an account where you will receive your communications.
